Description of the application Since the 1960s, Ingo Maurer has been designing unusual lamps, lighting systems and objects. This one is more of a light object. Kruisherenhotel in Maastricht is a former monastery. A cylinder made of PLEXIGLAS® block material was installed in the courtyard and filled with water. Two 30mm-thick blocks were formed into two half-pipes and bonded with ACRIFIX® adhesive to form a tube. The thick base through which the water-filled cylinder is illuminated from below is also made of PLEXIGLAS®, since this application called for highly transparent material. The hub of the electric motor that creates a constant whirling motion inside the object also passes through the base.
