Evonik is a worldwide leader in hydrocyanic acid production technology.
We have vast expertise and substantial know-how in three of the four direct synthesis processes that are used industrially to produce hydrocyanic acid:
- the Andrussow process, which is most widely used
- the BMA process
- the formamide process.
We have already granted licenses for these processes to reputed companies such as Akzo Nobel.
Andrussow Technology
Evonik operates a number of plants at different sites and has extensive operational know-how in addition to technological expertise. The processes have been continuously optimized ever since the first plant went on stream in the 1950s.
In the past, the company has registered various patents for hydrocyanic acid production by the Andrussow process, including the latest developments such as the use of oxygen-enriched air for synthesis
